Historical evolution

During the reign of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1862-1874), there were frequent wars. Local gentry built a big stockade at the pagoda temple in Nanshan to garrison the enemy. The village is very high, and the name gaozhaizi is engraved on the stone of the gate. Hence the name.

In 1935, gaozhaizi township was established.

In the 26th year of the Republic of China (1937), the Baojia system was implemented, which was under the jurisdiction of Yudai town.

In 1950, gaozhaizi township was restored.

In October 1958, it was changed to management area.

In May 1961, gaozhaizi commune was established.

In 1984, it was changed into gaozhaizi township.
