Historical evolution
It was named after the large kilns and pottery workshops in the Qin, Han and Tang Dynasties.
The administrative region is located in the palace area of the ancient capital of Qin Dynasty. It is one of the four ancient towns in Xianyang County in Ming and Qing Dynasties.
After the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it became Yaodian town.
In 1984, Yaodian commune was changed into Yaodian township.
In 1997, the township was set up.

Xianyang city site in Qin Dynasty
Qin Xianyang city site is the capital site from the late Warring States period to the Qin Dynasty. It is located in Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, covering both sides of the Weihe River. With Yaodian Street Office of Weicheng District of Xianyang City as the center, the excavation area is 15168 square meters, and the existing area is 20 square kilometers. It was built in the year of Qin Xiaogong.
The site of Xianyang City in Qin Dynasty is divided into South and north areas with Weishui River as the boundary. According to the distribution of the remains, three functional areas of the North District have been identified: Palace and official office area, Guo area, Mausoleum and tomb area. There is no city wall found in the site of Xianyang city of Qin Dynasty. It starts from baijiazui in the East, ends at maowanggou in the west, and ends at gaoganqu in the north. It is 870 meters long from east to west and 500 meters wide from north to south. The site of Xianyang Qin palace lies in the north part of the site, surrounded by rammed earth palace walls. From 1973 to 1982, three palace building sites were excavated in the site.
On January 13, 1988, Qin Xianyang city site was listed as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council.
Changling
Changling, located in the north of Sanyi village, Yaodian street, about 20 kilometers east of Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, is a joint Tomb of Liu Bang and empress Lu of the Han Dynasty.
There are two tombs in the East and west of Changling, gaozuling in the West and lvhouling in the East. In front of the mausoleum, there were two stone tablets erected by Bi Yuan, governor of Shaanxi Province in the Qing Dynasty. Besides, the tiles with characters of "Changling dongdang", "Changling Xidang" and "Changling xishen" belonging to the Western Han Dynasty were unearthed near the mausoleum, which confirmed that the mausoleum here was indeed Changling.
On January 13, 1988, Changling was listed as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units announced by the State Council.
