Danga Township

It is one of the seven townships in one town of Saga county. It was founded in 1961 and changed to township in 1988. The township government is located in dange village, in the east of the county, 103 kilometers away from the county government. It has jurisdiction over three village committees, namely sadenmu, xijiangba and danga. The total population is 1692 (2017).

Belonging to Shigatse City, "Jiaxie" of danga Township, Saga county with a long history has been listed in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. In 2002, danga township was identified as the "Jiaxie" art town by the regional government. Jiaxie is a unique collective performance dance in Saga County, which has won the love of the masses with its unique costumes and performance forms. Jiaxie's clothes are mostly made of high-grade satin, mainly red and yellow. The performers wear big round hats with tassels around them, and the props include a long waist knife, a whip and so on. The action of "Jiaxie" is rough and bold, which shows the strong and brave character of the Tibetan nation. The accompaniment instrument is a big drum with strong rhythm.
