Mohan town
Mohan town is located in the southeast of Mengla County, between 21010 ′ - 21026 ′ N and 101027 ′ - 101041 ′ e. it is connected with Laos in the southeast, with 174 km border line, Mengman town in the West and Mengla town in the north. The town government is 43 kilometers away from the county seat, covering an area of 803 square kilometers, with an average altitude of 850 meters and a forest coverage rate of 87%. There are three roads in the area leading to Laos (manzhuang to fengshali, Xinmin to Mengsai, Mohan port to Nanta). Mohan port is the only national land port in China leading to Laos.

In 1984, it was renamed as Shangyong District in the reform of setting up districts and townships.
In 1988, the district and township system reform changed Shangyong District into Shangyong township. The six townships under the original jurisdiction were renamed six village offices.
In March 1992, Mohan was approved by the State Council as a national first-class port.
In February 1997, according to the reply to the document "revoking the establishment of Mohan town in Shangyong township" (yzf [1996] No. 46), in February 1997, at the preparatory meeting of the second session of the first people's Congress of Mohan Town, Shangyong Township and Mohan port were merged to establish Mohan town, which has jurisdiction over 6 village committees, 56 village groups, 5 village farms and 5 tea teams under the refined tea factory.
In May 2001, Mohan border trade zone was established in accordance with the spirit of the provincial government's on-site office meeting. According to xizhengfa (2003) No.22 document "reply on renaming Mohan town to Shangyong town", in the third session of the third people's Congress of Mohan town held on March 3, 2004, according to the notice of laranchangfa (2004) No.3 document "decision on renaming Mohan town to Shangyong town", it was renamed to Shangyong Town, but it has not been approved by the provincial government and the Provincial Department of civil affairs Reply.
In September 2006, Mohan border trade zone was renamed as "Yunnan Xishuangbanna Mohan Economic Development Zone".
In 2007, Mohan village committee of Shangyong town (9 villager groups, 1 Village Farm and 2 tea teams under the refined tea factory), including Xinmin, Moxing, Nalong, sankm, aqueduct, Mohan, Naga, huijinli and Moben, was assigned to Mohan economic development zone. On December 30, 2010, the 93rd meeting of the Standing Committee of the Sixth State Party committee approved in principle the request for instructions on the management of Shangyong town under Mohan Economic Development Zone, and agreed to put Shangyong town under the management of Mohan Economic Development Zone as a whole, with Mohan Economic Development Zone as the main responsibility and Mohan town as the standard place name.
On June 29, 2011, the signing ceremony for Shangyong town to be transferred to Mohan economic development zone was held, and Shangyong town was officially transferred to Mohan economic development zone.
On August 31, 2016, Mohan town officially resumed its organizational system and was put under the management of Mengla County.

Mohan town is a mountainous border town mainly inhabited by Dai people, Han, Hani, Miao, Yao, Lahu (Kucong), Bulang (Kemu) and other nationalities.

Transportation
Within the jurisdiction, there are three highways leading directly to Laos (manzhuang to fengshali, Xinmin to Mengsai, Mohan port to Nanta). Mohan port is the only national land port leading to Laos in China.
