Nagu town
Nagu town is located in the west of Huize County, 22.8km away from the county in the East, Jinzhong town and Wuxing Township in the East, Dahai Township in the south, Xiaojiang River and Jinsha River in the west, facing Dongchuan District and Huidong County in Sichuan Province, and LAOCHANG Township and Menggu Township in Qiaojia county in the north.
As of 2012, Nagu town has a total land area of 258 square kilometers, which governs 17 villages and 1 community, 204 Village (resident) groups and 348 natural villages. The resident population was 61657 (2017).
Nagu town was rated as a provincial historical and cultural town in Yunnan in 1995, a provincial health town in Yunnan in 2003, and Baiwu village was rated as a famous historical and cultural town in China in September 2005, which was listed as a small town with characteristics of tourism development and construction in Yunnan Province. On July 24, 2019, Nagu town was selected into the list of national strong agricultural towns in 2019.
Evolution of organizational system
Nagu was originally named "Nagu" in Yi language, which means "black land" or "black Bazi". It was the place where Bo people lived in the pre Qin period.
Nagu town was built in the sixth year of Jianyuan in the Western Han Dynasty, under the jurisdiction of Tanglang county.
Ming Hongwu 14 years (1381), for the Dongchuan Tu Fu jurisdiction.
Ming Hongwu 16 years (1383), for the Sichuan Dongchuan military and civilian government jurisdiction.
In the 38th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, a supplementary flood (nawuxun) was set up under the jurisdiction of Dongchuanying.
In 1728, Nagu tumululiang killed yizetang soldiers in response to the rebellion of luwanfu, the Yi chieftain of Wumeng. Ertai put down the rebellion of Lu Tianyou, abandoned liuyingchang and jiuhuomu in Dongchuan of Niulan River and set up four townships and eight Li, and abolished all Yi names.
In the first year of Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1862 AD), Shi Dakai, the wing king of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, led more than 100000 Taiping troops into Dongchuan (today's Huize). Before they attacked the city, they fought with the Qing army in Nagu, and at the end of the year, they went down the river and captured Qiaojia.
In 1913 (the second year of the Republic of China), Dongchuan Prefecture was abolished in Huize Prefecture and renamed Dongchuan county. Nagu town belongs to Yunnan middle road.
In May 1935 (the 24th year of the people's Republic of China), the Central Red Army entered Yunnan on the long march. The ninth red army conquered Xuanwei and Huize, arrived at Nagu, crossed the Jinsha River from Shuju and went north to Sichuan.
In March 1950, the 131 regiment of the 44th division of the Chinese people's Liberation Army marched from Huize to Nagu and went north to Qiaojia.
In October 1958, Huize County was withdrawn and Dongchuan City was established as the jurisdiction of Dongchuan City.
In December 1964, Huize County was restored to Qujing area, which was under the jurisdiction of Huize County.
In 1997, Li Nagu town was established.

The residence of the town government is 1920 meters above sea level. It is the hinterland of Wumeng Mountain area at the junction of Huize, Huidong, Qiaojia and Dongchuan counties and districts in Yunnan and Sichuan provinces.

Nagu town has a total land area of 258 square kilometers. The western margin is the Xiaojiang Fault Zone and the famous Jiangjiagou debris flow area. Due to the strong cutting of Xiaojiang River and Jinshajiang River, some rock strata in the valley are vertically fractured, forming a deep canyon. The whole terrain inclines from northeast to southwest in a step-by-step way, forming a small dam with three terraces: Trailer dam, 2180 meters above sea level; Nagu dam, 1920 meters above sea level; Ganhaizi dam, 1620 meters above sea level. The highest altitude is 2896m (bailongtanliangzi), the lowest is 695m (Xiaohekou), and the relative elevation difference is 2201m.
