Sandan township is located in the east of Fumin County, bordering Songming County and Changkou street of Wuhua District. It covers an area of 101 square kilometers and has a population of 11702 (2017). It has jurisdiction over six administrative villages, namely, Sandan, Hanying, Shaying, zhaijia, Diantou and menqiandi. Historical evolution
It originally belonged to Songming County. In 1924, banditry was frequent. Longtian county was established, and Sandan street was set up in the county government. In 1931, Longtian county was abolished, Yiliu and Wagong in Kunming County, shukezhong village in Fumin County were still under the jurisdiction of their respective owners, Shandan, Lunan and "Sanying" shukeshang village in poming County, and residents of Zhongcun village were still under the jurisdiction of Shaodian District in poming county. In 1950, it was changed into Sandan Township, and the residents of shukeshang village and Zhongcun village in Songming were classified as rich people. On April 1, 1958, Sandan township was put under the jurisdiction of Fumin and Qinlao commune. In October, it was put under the jurisdiction of Fumin commune. In March of the next year, it was put under the jurisdiction of Qinlao commune. In October 1961, the Fuqiang commune was set up by the industrious commune. It was changed into Sandan commune in 1962. In April 1984, the commune was abolished and changed to Sandan district. In February 1988, it was changed to Sandan township.
