Bazhai Township

Bazhai township is under the jurisdiction of Liping County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province.

Located in the west of Liping County, the township is 28 kilometers away from the county. It is connected with Defeng town in the East, MaoGong town in the west, Yandong town in the south, mengyan town and Luoli Township in the north. It is the traffic throat out of the county in the West.

The geographical coordinates are 1080541-1090 E and 260091-260171 n. The total area of the township is 134.19 square kilometers. There are 8 villages (residences) along the provincial highway Li (Ping) Rong (Jiang) and county highway BA (Shang). There are many hillsides and few plains in the township. The pH value of the soil is between 4.5 and 5.5. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south, high in the West and low in the East. The mountains are stacked in layers and the peaks are straight and green. The average altitude is 768m, the highest is 1091.7m at rhino slope, and the lowest is 570m at xiaqinglong village, Qinglong village, with a relative altitude difference of 521.7m.

The total area of the township is 138.58 square kilometers, with forest land accounting for 67.3%, cultivated land accounting for 3.2%, water area accounting for 0.06%, urban construction land accounting for 3.5% and others accounting for 25.94%. There are four main rivers in bazhai Township, namely Gaochang River, qizhai River, bazhai River and Liandong River, which all belong to the upper source of Liangjiang river. There are abundant plant species, mainly pine and Cunninghamia lanceolata, followed by miscellaneous trees and shrubs such as Castanea mollissima, as well as rare and key protected tree species such as Michelia davidiana, Michelia luminifera, Michelia leucophylla and Taiwania lanceolata. They are mainly distributed in houlongshan area of Gaochang village, with an area of about 308 Mu and a tree age of more than 600 years.

Transportation has developed rapidly. Before 1986, there were only two mechanized roads in Ma'anshan and sanjiaozhai, except Changling (Changling town) and Wushan (Wushan Township, Kaixian County).
