Mushu town

Mushu town is located in the northeast of Songtao Miao Autonomous County, across the river from Huayuan County in Hunan Province in the East. The government is 31 kilometers away from the county seat, covering an area of 78 or 4 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 19 administrative villages, 3 communities, 62 natural villages, 133 villager groups, 4383 households and 22398 people.

Evolution of organizational system

It was originally Mushu township of Songtao Miao Autonomous County. In December 2015, Guizhou Provincial People's Government approved the abolition of Mushu Township and the establishment of Mushu town.

geographical environment

Mushu town is 31 kilometers away from the county. The town's highway is 50 kilometers open to traffic, and the mobile communication network covers more than 92% of the villages. It is adjacent to Minle Town, Huayuan County, Hunan Province in the East, Shichang Township in the south, changxingbao town in the West and Fujia town in the north. The landform is hilly and low mountain area with an average altitude of 490 meters. The town has 765.9 hectares of arable land, 1116.01 hectares of woodland, 2767.18 hectares of pastoral land, 113.5 hectares of water area and 656.41 hectares of unused land. The forest coverage rate was 43.9%. There are two rivers in the territory, one is Songjiang River, which is about 20 km long through Mushu Town, and the other is Shilong River, which is about 8 km long.

The landform belongs to hilly and low mountainous area with an average altitude of 490 meters. The main minerals are Mercury and zinc sulfide, followed by manganese, iron, vanadium, lead, zinc, phosphorus, marble and limestone. The thickness of manganese ore body is generally 2-3m, and the thickest is 5-6m. There are also mottled jade and marble with white jade. According to the survey and sampling inspection by the geological department, its compressive strength, smoothness and other indicators have reached and exceeded the export standards.

Hydropower resources

The annual power generation is 25.5 million kwh. Most of the groundwater is high-quality spring water, which contains a variety of trace elements needed by human body. Some of the spring water has reached the international drinking water standard. There are two rivers in the territory, one is Songjiang River, which is about 20 km long through Mushu Town, and the other is Shilong River, which is about 8 km long. The annual average temperature is 16.3 ℃, the annual precipitation is 1414mm, the effective accumulated temperature is 5139 ℃, the average annual sunshine hours is 1209.9 hours, the frost free period is 292 days, the climate is mild, the heat is rich, and the rainfall is abundant.

Forestry resources

Mushu town is the main forest area of Songtao. The forest area accounts for more than 80% of the mountain area, and the forest coverage rate of the whole town is 35.4%. In the forest area, there are nearly 10 species of plants listed as the second class protection of the state, such as Cymbidium. The forest land of the town is 14435 hectares, accounting for 30.44% of the total land area, including 10024 hectares of forest land, accounting for 40.77% of the forest land. There are 407 hectares of economic forest in the township, mainly tung oil tree and Camellia oleifera forest; there are 90.8 hectares of bamboo forest, accounting for 2.08% of the forest area.

Population nationality

There are Miao, Han, Tujia, Dong and other ethnic groups in Mushu Town, and the ethnic minorities account for 85% of the town's total population of 18000.

Economics

The main crops are rice, corn and sweet potato, and the main economic crops are rape, pepper and citrus. Off season vegetables, flue-cured tobacco, peanuts, soybeans; forestry economy mainly includes: golden fruit forest, citrus, poplar, traditional Chinese medicine. The main industries are: manganese powder processing, electrolytic manganese metal, power generation, calcining lime, firing bricks and tiles, production of vermicelli. In 2007, the local GDP was 52.81 million yuan, including 31.025 million yuan for the first, 9.755 million yuan for the second and 12.03 million yuan for the third; the total grain output was 3698 tons; the total fiscal revenue was 1.1 million yuan, including 630000 yuan for the local fiscal revenue and 900 yuan for the net income of farmers. The total investment in fixed assets of the whole society was 510000 yuan.

Education, culture and health have made new progress. We will intensify efforts to consolidate the "two basics" in education. At the end of the year, there were 10 primary and secondary schools in the town, and the standard rate of teaching equipment was 100%. The students had 6.4 books per capita. There were 135 in-service teachers, including 85 public teachers and 50 substitute teachers. There were 2555 students in the school. Eight schools installed modern distance education equipment in rural areas, and the enrollment rate of school-age children in the town reached 99%. The enrollment rate of primary and secondary education is 95.8%, the completion rate of primary education is 95.6%, the completion rate of primary education is 81.52%, the graduation rate of primary school is 100%, and the graduation rate of junior high school is 97.1%. Among the population aged 15-50, the non illiteracy rate was 97.4%. 12 satellite TV "village to village" projects have been completed. Three mobile paging base stations have been built, and the mobile communication network covers more than 92% of the villages in the town. In the whole year, there were 6 immunization operations, 2 polio intensive immunization and 1 JE immunization. The immunization rates of polio, DPT and Ma vaccine were 98.3%, 97.2% and 98.6% respectively. At the end of the year, there was a township health center, 4 beds, 4 health technicians and 22 Village clinics, which could basically cure common diseases in rural areas and complete the prevention tasks assigned by the health department every year. The new outpatient building and inpatient department have been completed and put into use. Population and family planning work was further strengthened. In the family planning work, we should strengthen publicity as the breakthrough point, take women's health examination as the breakthrough point, focus on breaking through dead ends and women's ties, and take the top leaders of the party and government as the first responsible person to carry out large-scale centralized publicity activities of family planning. In 2007, 857 cases of "four skills" tasks were completed in the whole town, 73800 yuan of social support fee was collected, the family planning rate was 92.4%, the birth rate was 10.3 ‰, and the natural population growth rate was 8.4 ‰. The town's population and family planning work has reached a new level.

History and culture

In June 1980, when the cultural relics were surveyed, polished stone axes and red pottery pieces with sand were collected at mushuhudu. They were identified as Neolithic cultural relics by the Provincial Museum. It can be seen that human beings lived and multiplied in Mushu as early as 10000 to 4000 years ago. Mushu town has profound national culture. Miao's unique skills of "going up the sword mountain and going down the sea of fire" are well-known all over the country and popular overseas. Nuotang opera, Huagu opera and Miao song duet are deeply loved by people and spread widely. The Neolithic cultural site of hudukou, the wooden tree flood stele and the Shilong River Bridge built in the Guangxu period all have tourism development potential.
