Daqing Township

Daqing township is located in the south of Xichang City, 19 kilometers away from the urban area. Daqing township is adjacent to Hainan Township and Chuanxing town in the north, Daxing Township and mazingyiwu Township in Zhaojue County in the East, luogupo Township and anha town in the west, wudaoqing Township and telguo Township in Puge County in the south, covering an area of 85 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over three administrative villages, including Minzhu (12 groups), Baimiao (7 groups) and Shengli (9 groups), and 28 villager groups, with a total population of 6672 (2017). It is a mountainous ethnic township inhabited by pure Yi people. In March 2019, Daqing township was awarded "the third batch of provincial forest towns in Sichuan Province".

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province agreed to abolish Daqing Township and set up Hainan street. The former administrative region of Daqing township is the administrative region of Hainan street, and the Hainan Street office is located at No.1 Nanzhao road.

Evolution of organizational system

Originally belonging to Dashi Township, it was renamed Daqing Township in 1956, changed to commune in 1966 and resumed in 1984. in December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province agreed to abolish Daqing Township and set up Hainan street. It is the largest township of returning farmland to forestry and the main production area of carrot in Xichang City. the forest coverage area is 56.6 square kilometers, the grassland area is 18 square kilometers, and there is a small hydropower station with an installed capacity of 28 kW. There is one central primary school, four village primary schools, and the enrollment rate of the whole Township reaches 97%; there is one township health center. Over the years, Daqing township has been inspected many times by the leaders of the central government, the province, the prefecture and the city. Among them, General Secretary Jiang Zemin visited Baimiao village twice. It is also the first ethnic township visited by Liu Qibao, Secretary of the provincial Party committee, in Yi areas.
