Tongxing Township

Tongxing Township, belonging to Qianwei County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, is located in the southwest of Qianwei County, 28.75 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Qingxi Town and Tangba Township in the East, Changping and Songlin villages in Shuangxi Township in the south, Guandou mountain and Lanhua village in Shuangxi Township in the west, Gaosun Township in Muchuan County in the northwest, Mabian River in the north, 25 kilometers inside the township, and mamiao Township across the Mabian River. The area is 46 square kilometers. In 2017, the total population was 6021. As of 2019, Tongxing has nine administrative villages under its jurisdiction.

In 2017, there were 9 enterprises in Tongxing Township, with 275 employees, including 6 industrial enterprises.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish Tongxing Township and Shuangxi Township and establish Shuangxi Town, with the former administrative region of Tongxing Township and Shuangxi township as the administrative region of Shuangxi town.

Evolution of organizational system

During the period of the Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of Tongxing and Qingyuan.

In 1940, Tongxing Township and Qingyuan Township were merged into Tongqing township.

In June 1951, Tongqing township was divided into three small townships: Tongqing, Jianshe and zhuanshen.

In January 1956, the three townships were merged into Jianshe township.

In October 1958, it was renamed Jianshe people's commune.

In September 1981, it was renamed Tongxing commune.

In 1984, it was changed to Tongxing township.

In December 2019, Tongxing Township and Shuangxi township will be abolished and Shuangxi town will be established. The administrative region of Shuangxi town will be the administrative region of Tongxing Township and Shuangxi township.

Tongxing township is the distribution area of dawoding vein in the south of Daliangshan mountains. It is mainly composed of deep cutting gullies and mountains, with altitude ranging from 320m to 1034m. The riverbed at Mabian below Longxing Temple in Yonghong village is the lowest point, and the top of Guandou mountain is the highest point.

Tongxing township is rich in natural resources, including coal, iron, quartz sand, shale, limestone, kaolin and other geological and mineral resources.
