In the late Qing Dynasty, Zhang huting Township belonged to Cui Nan shop, Yanshan County East District. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, zhanghuiting Township belonged to cuinanpu, East District of Yanshan County.
During the Anti Japanese War, it successively belonged to the third district (Gaowan District) and the first district (Gaowan District) of Yanshan County.
In May 1961, cuikou commune was established.
In October 1964, it was renamed Zhang Huiting commune.
In June 1965, it was called zhanghuiting commune in Haixing County.
In April 1984, it was changed to zhanghuiting township.
In November 1995, Guoqiao township was incorporated.
