Machongkou Street

Machongkou street, subordinate to Da'an District, Zigong City, Sichuan Province, has five communities: machongkou community, shayuba community, Gaodong community, Nianzishan community and wenfengshan community. The street is located in the northeast of Da'an District, adjacent to Da'an street and Dashanpu town in the East, Fenghuang Township in the west, Longjing street in the south, Xinmin Town and Xiangyi town in Weiyuan County in the north, covering an area of 6 square kilometers.

The origin of the name

The name of machongkou comes from folklore. It is said that there is a Ruan family grave in Minjian Bay. In front of the grave, there is a stone which is decorated with life. It eats grass on the nearby mountain. After eating the grass, it eats crops. It is pursued by farmers. When the horse runs out of the grave, it is named machongkou. Second, the place was hit by the flood. From yanjiawan to liumingjing, a flood formed. The flood flowed into the Weiyuan river. The mule and horse Gang transported the coal from Weiyuan to Zigong. After passing through the flood, it was named machongkou.

Topography and climate

The landform of the street is a shallow hill, with Wenfeng mountain being the highest and Gaodong near Weiyuan river being the lowest, with an altitude of 320 (± 50) meters. It belongs to the mid subtropical monsoon climate zone, with an annual average temperature of 17.8 ℃, no severe cold in winter and no severe heat in summer. It has four distinct seasons, abundant rainfall, short spring and autumn, and long winter and summer

Population and nationality

At the end of 2017, the registered residence total population was 6045, 23794, including 1045 people aged 80 and over, 1 persons aged 100 and over. There are Yi, Zhuang, Manchu, Yao, Tujia and other ethnic minorities living in the territory, and the year-end population is 2, 2, 2, 3 and 2 respectively.
