Hongmao town
Hongmao town belongs to Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County of Hainan Province. It is located in the west of Qiongzhong County, adjacent to Yinggen town in the East, Shangan Township in the south, Shiyun Township in the West and Limushan town in the north. The town government is located at 161 km of Haiyu middle line. It is the birthplace of Baisha uprising, an old revolutionary base area. There are 11 administrative villages, 45 natural villages and 49 villager groups in the town, with a total population of 8912 (2017).
Historical evolution
In 1689, it was hongmaodong in le'anying, Yazhou, and hongmaozhen was established in 1986. In 1997, it covers an area of 269.2 square kilometers and has a population of 9000. It has jurisdiction over 11 administrative villages including Fanxiang, Luokan, Jinping, Luodan, Shitai, Shihan, Maoxi, Yawan, kanmao, Caonan and Luojie.

geographical environment
The administrative area of Hongmao town is 156.77 square kilometers, with an area of about 110000 mu, including 11265.5 mu of cultivated land, 6400 mu of paddy field, 4865.5 mu of dry land and 84000 mu of woodland. Hongmao town is located in the northern edge of the tropical marine monsoon climate zone, with long summer without severe heat and short winter without severe cold. The annual average temperature is 22 ℃, and the rainfall in normal years is 1500-2000 mm. The frost period is short and the groundwater resources are rich. It has high mountains and deep forests, 81% of which are mountainous areas and 16% of which are high hills. There are 17 extended Wuzhishan mountains with an altitude of more than 500 meters. There are more than 50 gullies and streams, crisscross with hills, ridges and gullies. The terrain extends from southwest to Southeast. The soil is mostly red soil and black soil, and the forest coverage rate is nearly 80%. It is a natural oxygen bar.
economic development
The main economic industry of Hongmao town is agriculture. At present, 6745.2 mu of rubber, 7550.5 mu of Alpinia oxyphylla, 2174.8 mu of betel nut, 2234 mu of longan, 3941 mu of green orange, 512 mu of mango and 2500 mu of artificial afforestation are planted in the town. In 2005, the per capita net income of farmers in the town reached more than 1700 yuan. With the increase of poverty alleviation efforts, various infrastructure facilities have been continuously improved.
The housing rate of the whole town is 90%, the traffic, water and electricity rate is 94%, and the radio and television coverage rate is 100%. At present, there are 1 junior middle school, 4 complete primary schools and 8 teaching sites, with a total of 1723 teachers and students (including 1614 students and 109 teachers). In 2002, Hongmao town was awarded by the provincial Party committee and the provincial government as "an advanced township in the construction of old districts" and "an advanced township in the comprehensive management of public security".
