Shiling Town

Shiling Town, subordinate to Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County of Hainan Province, is located in the northeast of Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County. It connects Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County in the north and northeast, Lingshui Li Autonomous County in the East, Baocheng town in the southwest and Wuzhishan City in the west, with an administrative area of 176.88 square kilometers.

In 1961, Qifeng commune was abolished and Shiling commune was established. In 1983, it was renamed Shiling district office. In 1987, it set up a town. In 2002, eight villages were merged into Shiling Town. By the end of 2018, 14014 people registered residence in the town of Shi Ling. As of June 2020, Shiling Town has jurisdiction over 12 administrative villages, and the town government is located in Yecun village.

Historical evolution

In Ming Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Baoting Inspection Department of Lingshui County.

In the Qing Dynasty, baotingying was under the jurisdiction of Qianlong.

In 1935, Baoting county was established and Qigong township was set up.

In 1948, Zhennan township was established and later renamed Qifeng township.

In May 1950, the organizational system of Qifeng township was abolished and renamed the management area.

In 1958, it merged with Baocheng and Bachun to form Qifeng commune and set up Shiling brigade in Shiling.

In 1961, Qifeng commune was abolished and Shiling commune was established.

In 1983, it was renamed Shiling district office.

In 1987, it set up a town.

In 2002, eight villages were merged into Shiling Town.
