Yanfeng town
Yanfeng Town, subordinate to Meilan District, Haikou City, Hainan Province, is located in the northeast of Meilan District, adjacent to Dongzhaigang in the East, at the junction of Puqian Town, Wenchang City, Sanjiang Town in the south, Lingshan Town and Yunlong Town in the west, and Puqianwan in the north. The administrative area of Yanfeng town is 126.51 square kilometers.
In March 1987, Yanfeng District Office was changed to Yanfeng town. On July 15, 2002, Yanfeng town and Yanhai town merged to establish Meilan town. On October 16, 2002, with the approval of the State Council, Qiongshan city was abolished and merged into Haikou City. Meilan town was under the jurisdiction of Meilan District. On June 4, 2003, Meilan town was renamed Yanfeng town. By the end of 2018, 32199 people had registered residence in Fengzhen. As of June 2020, Yanfeng town has jurisdiction over one community and 13 administrative villages, and its people's government is stationed in Yanfeng market.
In 2018, Yanfeng town achieved GDP of 1.126 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.9%; fiscal revenue of 139.84 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22%; per capita disposable income of urban residents of the town reached 39475 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.5%; per capita net income of farmers reached 19984 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.5%. By the end of 2018, Yanfeng town had 15 industrial enterprises and 24 supermarkets or comprehensive stores with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
Historical evolution
In 1933, Yanshun Township and Fenghua Township were merged to establish Yanfeng Town, the Fifth District of Qiongshan county.
In 1951, Yanfeng township was under the jurisdiction of the third district of Qiongshan county.
In June 1957, Daxiang was merged and Yanfeng township was set up.
In 1958, Meilan Township and Tashi Township were assigned to Yanfeng, and Yanfeng commune was established; in December of the same year, Qiongshan county was incorporated into Haikou City, under the jurisdiction of Haikou rocket commune.
In July 1959, rocket commune was abolished and Yanfeng commune was established respectively.
In February 1961, Yanfeng commune was divided into Yanfeng commune and Meilan commune.
In July 1964, Meilan commune was abolished and merged into Yanfeng commune.
In 1967, Tashi brigade was transferred from Yanfeng commune to state-owned Guilin Yang farm.
In 1971, Tashi group was set up from Guilin Yang farm.
In September 1983, Yanfeng commune established Yanfeng district office.
In May 1984, Tashi District Office was merged into Yanfeng district office.
In March 1987, Yanfeng District Office was changed to Yanfeng Town, which was under the jurisdiction of Qiongshan county.
In January 1994, Qiongshan county was set up as a city under the jurisdiction of Qiongshan city.
On July 15, 2002, Yanfeng town and Yanhai town merged to establish Meilan town.
On October 16, 2002, with the approval of the State Council, Qiongshan city was abolished and merged into Haikou City. Meilan town was under the jurisdiction of Meilan District.
On June 4, 2003, Meilan town was renamed Yanfeng town.
