Xiatai town

Xiatai Town, a city under the jurisdiction of Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, is the hometown of Yingshi in China. Xiatai town is located in the southeast of Yingde City, 38 kilometers away from Yingde City. It is adjacent to Fogang County in the southeast, Lianjiang in the West and Huanggang town in the north.

The total area of the town is 174.09 square kilometers (2017), with a total population of 11266 people (2017), including 648 non-agricultural personnel. Historical evolution

In 1949, when the people's Republic of China was founded, xiatai was divided into the Fourth District, belonging to liantai township; in the period of land reform, xiatai unit was divided into the first district; in 1958, the people's commune was established, called Yuejin commune, which was located in Lianjiangkou, and xiatai belonged to the management area; in 1961, xiatai commune was divided by Lianjiangkou and then merged into Lianjiangkou commune; in 1977, it was divided into xiatai commune again by Lianjiangkou; in 1983, the system was reformed Xiatai District Office was set up under the jurisdiction of five townships. It was changed into xiatai Township in 1986 and xiatai town in 1994.

At the same time, it is also rich in fungus, mushroom, bamboo shoots and so on. there are many kinds of mineral resources with large reserves, including quartz sand, silica, potash, pyrite, lead-zinc, tin, tungsten, silver, copper, etc. Among them, quartz sand has the largest reserves, with the reserves of more than 12 million tons after exploration by relevant experts. Since 1980, eight hydropower stations with a total installed capacity of 5500 kwh have been built, with small hydropower as the leader to drive the development of other industries. In the town, there is a smelter with an annual output of 1320 tons of ferrosilicon, a billet factory with an annual output of 1513 tons of billet, and more than 100 quartz sand processing plants with an annual processing and sales of 21000 tons of quartz sand. All kinds of processing industries have also been electrified, and 99% of the farmers in the town use electricity.

Culture, education and health

Although xiatai is a small town in mountainous area, it attaches great importance to culture, education and health. In 1993, it invested more than 4 million yuan to build a junior high school with complete supporting facilities, including two basketball courts and one football field. The teaching buildings and teachers' accommodation of the eight primary schools in the town are all reinforced concrete buildings. The total construction area is more than 4300 square meters. Cable TV has expanded from towns to farmers. the health service is also developing rapidly, with outpatient building, inpatient department, medical staff dormitory building, etc. The medical equipment is relatively complete, the medical and health conditions in mountainous areas have been improved, and the goal of "one without three sets" in primary health centers has been achieved.
