Suyuan town

Suyuan Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Heping County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the Northwest Mountainous Area of Heping County and is the source of Sujiang River, a tributary of Dongjiang River. In 2017, it covers an area of 132.11 square kilometers, including 10508 mu of cultivated land, 196000 mu of mountain forest and a total population of 20809. It has one neighborhood committee and eight village committees.

Wuyuan town is located at the junction of two provinces and three counties. Because it is located at the source of Wujiang River, it is called "Wutou". From March 26, 2012, Suyuan town became the water supply area of Heping County.

In 2017, the total agricultural output value of Suyuan town was 142.85 million yuan, and the rural per capita net income was 10840 yuan.

Historical evolution

On May 26, 1949, after the liberation of Wutou, it was renamed as Wuyuan and the people's Government of Wuyuan township was established.

On October 1, 1958, Suyuan, Reshui and Qingzhou were merged into Jiulian people's commune.

In the winter of 1960, Suyuan, Reshui and Qingzhou branch established Suyuan people's commune.

In March 1968, the commune reform committee was established.

In September 1983, Suyuan commune was renamed Suyuan district office.

In December 1986, the Suyuan District Office was abolished and renamed the people's Government of Suyuan township.

In March 1994, it was renamed the people's Government of Suyuan town.

Wuyuan town covers an area of 132.11 square kilometers. It is located in the eastern edge of Jiulian mountains in the northwest of Heping County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. It is the source of Wujiang River, a tributary of Dongjiang River. It is adjacent to Wudang town, Longnan County, Jiangxi Province in the north and Shangping Town, Lianping County in the West. In the East, there are "five beautiful flowers", in the south, there are "double peaks", in the west, there are "wind butterflies", and in the north, there are "little Wudang". The main peak of Jiulian Mountain, wind blown butterfly, is located in Qutan village, 1272 meters above sea level.
