Wangfu town

Wangfu Town, belonging to Dianbai District, Maoming City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northeast of Dianbai district. It is one of the towns at the junction of Maoming and Yangjiang. It is named after Wangfu mountain and Wangfu River (the downstream is Rudong River) flowing through raowu town. It is adjacent to Xinxu town of Yangxi County in the east across the Rudong River, Mata town and Guanzhu town in the south, Shalang town in the West and Luokeng town in the north. The town is rich in beans, wax gourd, litchi, longan, mango and other vegetables and fruits. Wangfu mountain is a special scenic spot in Wangfu town.

Geography

Wangfu town is a town in the northeast of Dianbai District, Guangdong Province. It is separated by a river from Yangxi County in the East, adjacent to Mata and Guanzhu towns in the south, facing Shalang town in the West and Luokeng town in the north. It is 15.3 km long from east to west and 10.1 km wide from south to north. It is 73 km east of Shuixi county and 7 km away from Mata entrance of Guangzhou Zhanjiang expressway. The total area of the town is 95.32 square kilometers (2017), with jurisdiction over 10 village committees, 165 natural villages and 1 neighborhood committee, and a total population of 29359 (2017).

The population of the town is mainly Han Hakka, and the languages used are Ya dialect (i.e. Hakka dialect in western Guangdong), Li dialect, Hai dialect (these two are Min dialect), vernacular (including Yangjiang dialect in Danshui), and Ya dialect.

Historical evolution

In Sui and Tang Dynasties, it was the southern border of Dianbai County. In Ming Dynasty, there were two pictures of Deshan township. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the inspection department of Shalang. The Republic of China is the fourth district.

After liberation (November 1949), it was Wangfu Township in six districts (Shalang). In February 1957, it was established as Wangfu Township, Fengdong Township and other middle townships. At the end of 1957, it was Wangfu big township. In June 1959, it was established as Wangfu people's commune. In November 1983, it was withdrawn from commune to district. In April 1987, it was withdrawn from district to township. In April 1988, it was withdrawn from township to town. It has jurisdiction over 10 village committees and 1 neighborhood committee. In April 2014, the former Dianbai County was transferred to Dianbai District of Maoming City.
