Kok Mei Township is located in the southernmost part of Chinese mainland, southwest of Xuwen County, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong province. It is on the East and south side of Qiongzhou Strait, west of Beibu Gulf, and north of Mai Chen Town, with a total area of 50.2 square kilometers (2017), of which 9475 Mu is cultivated land. Jiaoweiwei, the government residence, is located at 109 ° 57 ′ E and 20 ° 16 ′ n. Jiaowei Township administers 11 villager committees, including Baoxi, tanao, Beizhu, Shiliao, Shatu, fuzhai, Jiaowei, Shangliao, xujialiao, xialiaozi and fangpo. Historical evolution
This place looks like an angle extending to the sea, so it is called Jiaowei, and the southernmost end is called ruweijiao. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, this place belonged to renzheng township. In 1912, Jiaowei township was established in the Qing Dynasty. In 1931, Jiaowei Township belonged to the Fifth District of Xuwen County (also known as the Western District). In 1940, Jiaowei Township belonged to the third district. In 1941, Jiaowei township was still set up after the division and merger. In 1948, Jiaowei township was merged with Xilian Township and named Xijiao township. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Maixi township at the end of 1949. It belonged to the third district of Xuyi since May 1950, known as the seventh administrative village. It was changed into Jiaowei Township in 1953. In 1957, it was withdrawn and merged into Jiaowei township. In March 1958, it was merged into Maichen township. In October 1958, it belonged to Maichen people's commune (also known as Yuejin commune). In April 1961, it was separated from Maichen commune and established Jiaowei people's commune. In 1965, it was merged into Maichen commune and resumed in 1979 Jiaowei commune was changed into Jiaowei District in 1983, and was renamed Jiaowei Township in 1987.

Jiaowei township is a coastal area, facing the sea three times. The terrain is low and flat, slightly higher in the north and lower in the south. Most of the soil types are sandy loam and sandy soil. There is no river and water shortage.

It has a coastline of more than 40 kilometers and a wide tidal flat, which is suitable for breeding pearls, abalone and lobster. The salt content of seawater is 30 ‰ - 35 ‰, and the sunshine time is long, which is beneficial to the development of salt industry.
Aquatic products
There are Nanling, Baoluo, fangpo, Baoxi, white house and other harbors in the area, with less water and sand, which is conducive to the development of water transport industry. In particular, Nanling port, located in the south of Jiaowei Township, is the closest port to Hainan Island on the mainland of China, only 16 nautical miles away from Hainan gold port. With deep water, hard bottom and thin waves, the harbor can build three 30000 ton wharves, and the anchorage outside the harbor can berth 50000 ton ships.

Xubao highway, an important road for land transportation, passes through maichenwei, passes through the middle of Jiaowei Township, and finally reaches Xuwen salt farm.
