Name and origin
It is said that in the Ming Dynasty, the old man surnamed Yiwen went into business and treated people kindly here. Later, more and more people became neighbors with him, and gradually developed into a town.
geographical position
Wenmingpu town is adjacent to Wenfu town in the East, Lijiaping town in the southeast, dachundian town in the south, puliqiao town and yangcundian town in Lengshuitan District in the southwest, Gongjiaping town and Zhuantang Town in Qidong County in the north. Historical evolution
In the spring and Autumn period, it belonged to the south of Chu, Changsha County in the Qin Dynasty, Lingling County in the Western Han Dynasty, and Qiyang County in the eastern Wu Dynasty. Yonglong Taiping inspection department was set up in Ming Dynasty. In the 35th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, it was divided into upper civilization Township and lower civilization township. In the 18th year of the Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of the Fifth District of Qiyang. After liberation, Qiyang was divided into six districts. The Sixth District is located in wenmingpu, and has jurisdiction over Baolu Township, Tongwen Township and wenmingxiang. In 1950, wenmingpu was the 11th district, under the jurisdiction of 1 town and 11 townships. In 1956, Qiyang was divided into three towns (Chengguan Town, Baishui town and Wenming town) and 50 townships (including wenmingpu Township, yaotoupu Township, gaomatou Township and dapingpu township). In 1958, the two communes, wenhuapu and Xinhua, were established as the unity of government and society. In 1961, Qiyang restored the system of district and town. Wenmingpu district has jurisdiction over seven communes and wenmingtown, namely wenmingpu, gaodock, songlinwan, yaotoupu, Gongjiaping, dapingpu and Xijiang. In August 1984, wenmingpu township was divided into wenmingpu town. In January 1986, songlinwan township was withdrawn and its nine villages were assigned to gaotouxiang. Since then, wenmingpu district has jurisdiction over one town and five townships (wenmingpu Town, gaotoupu, yaotoupu, Gongjiaping, dapingpu and xiejiang townships). In May 1995, Qiyang district was removed and township was built. Wenmingpu district was removed and two towns were set up. The former Qianjiang Township and gaomatou Township were merged into wenmingpu Town, and the former yaotoupu, Gongjiaping and dapingpu townships were merged into Gongjiaping town.

topographic features
It belongs to Siming Mountain range, high in the West and low in the East. A small part of it belongs to mountainous area in the west, and hills and plains in the East. The altitude is between 80 and 400 meters, and the terrain is relatively gentle.
climate
It belongs to subtropical monsoon climate, with obvious four seasons. Affected by the terrain, it is a rainless area in Qiyang County. Siming Mountain and Qishan mountain are facing each other in the distance, which is easily affected by wind disaster and hail.
hydrology
At present, there are 3 small-scale reservoirs, 6 small-scale reservoirs and 4 small-scale dams. There is one small-scale electric irrigation station with an installed capacity of 255kw, 34 electric irrigation stations above 20kW, an installed capacity of 699kw, 177km of various drainage channels and 76km of small-scale irrigation channels. There are 7668 Pingtang in Dashan and Xiaoshan. In addition to longjiangqiao reservoir irrigation of 11000 mu of farmland, the rest mainly rely on water conservancy facilities for irrigation. The main rivers in the territory are Qishui River from changtanqiao village to Qiyang through Qidong, and yanziyan River from puliqiao town to Lijiaping town.

The main mineral resources in the territory are limestone with large quantity and good quality, which are mainly distributed in the triangle Bay area. The changtanqiao area is rich in iron ore, manganese, copper, lead, tin, zinc and other ores.
natural disaster
The main natural disasters are gale, hail, rainstorm and drought. On April 16, 1975, the area between wenmingpu and baimaotan was hit by a tornado with a wind force of 8, causing heavy losses. In 2008, the serious drought made it difficult for people and livestock to drink water, resulting in the situation of vehicles loading water and people buying water. Drought is the main natural disaster in recent 20 years.
