Lutang town
Under the jurisdiction of Beihu District, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, Lutang town is located at the northwest foot of Qitianling mountain range, connecting Yuefeng, Nanxi and Datang townships in the East, Heye Town, Guiyang County in the south, Taihe Town, Guiyang County in the west, and Guiyang and Linwu counties, 58 kilometers away from the urban area. It is the trade center of the three counties (districts) border, and provincial highway 1842 passes through the border.
In 2012, Lutang town covers a total area of 111.63 square kilometers, with a total population of 30631 people and jurisdiction over 24 villages and 3 communities. There are coal and graphite resources in the territory, known as "the hometown of coal" and "the capital of graphite".
Lutang town is one of the first batch of towns in Hunan Province with an output value of over 100 million yuan, a pilot town for comprehensive reform and development of small towns, and one of the first batch of well-off towns in Chenzhou City.
History of construction
It is said that there is a pond in the territory, which is full of brine grass all the year round. It is called "brine pond" and later evolved into Lutang. It was called Yongning Township in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. Yongning Township Office was set up in October 1949. In 1950, the office was abolished and Xianliang district was set up under the third district of Chen county. In 1956, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, and it was officially renamed Lutang township. In 1958, it was renamed the upstream people's commune. In 1984, Lutang township was restored. in 1994, the township was withdrawn to build a town and renamed Lutang town. in 1995, it was assigned to Beihu district. in 2012, Lutang town and Nanxi Township merged into Lutang town.
