Guzhou town

Guzhou town is located in the northeast of Shaoyang County, 31 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Shaoyang City in the north, Shaodong county in the East, xiahuaqiao town in the South and Huangjing Township in the West. The town government is stationed in Guzhou bridge, covering an area of 84.69 square kilometers (2017). The population is 35391 (2017), and the town government is stationed in guzhouqiao. The origin of town name

In Han Dynasty, guzhoutiandang was a natural Dang (Dang, i.e. shallow lake, such as reed Dang). There is a mound in the middle of the lake. The terrain is high and the water can't be submerged. There are towering trees on the mound. The lake is thousands of Mu wide, with shallow water and many fish. Therefore, it has become a paradise for hundreds of birds and a landmark in the lake. Therefore, the local ancestors called it "Guzhou". This "Guzhou" is in today's Niaoshan village. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was said that there were three pools of treasure, one pool of gold loach, one pool of gold eel and one pool of turtle in dangli. The imperial court sent people to dredge the Tanjiang River, dry the lake and take away the treasure. The name of santangjing in Niaoshan village evolved from "santanjing". after the water was drained, the original shallow lake became a fertile field, which was gradually developed and cultivated by the surrounding residents. At this time, Guzhou, which was originally surrounded by the lake, was already connected with the surrounding land, so the people changed the name of "Guzhou" to "Guzhou". Fertile field was opened up into farmland and became a well-known rice production place, so "Guzhou" is also known as "Guzhou". With the migration of time, the original "Guzhou" was called "bird mountain" by the people because of the gathering of birds. Today, there is a bird mountain village in Guzhou town. In the Northern Song Dynasty, because it was located on the Lingling avenue of Shaoyang, a post station was built here in the Northern Song Dynasty, which was called "Guzhou post", and the name of Guzhou spread. Historical evolution
