Niumasi town

Niumasi town belongs to Shaodong City, Hunan Province. It is located in the northwest of Shaodong City, close to Shaoyang City. National Highway 320, Lou Shao railway and Tan Shao Expressway pass through the town. There are three major water systems in the jurisdiction, namely Xiyang River, Tongmu River and Liugong River, and Shaoshui River also meanders through the territory. Abundant in water resources, there is shijiaba hydropower station, the only hydropower station in Shaodong. With large coal reserves, it is the world's first-class main coking coal producing area. Its coal quality is "three low and one high", that is, low sulfur, low phosphorus, low ash powder and high heat. It ranks the first in the world with the main coking coal of Thalis coal mine in the United States. Shaodong tax payer Hunan Heijin times Niumasi Mining Co., Ltd. is located in the town. The town is a low hilly terrain in the south, with suitable temperature and moderate rainfall throughout the year.

Niumasi town was named shuijingtou Township in 1950, shuijingtou commune in 1961, songjiatang commune merged into Niumasi commune in 1965, established in 1983 and merged with WanNI Township in 1995. The total area is 81.77 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 31 administrative villages and 1 neighborhood committee. The total population is 60122 (2017).
