Gudian town
Gudian Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Wangdu County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, is located in the southwest of Wangdu County, 15 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Gaoling town in the East, liuzao town and zhonghanzhuang town in Dingzhou City in the southeast, Qingfengdian town in Dingzhou City in the south, Wangjing town in Tang County in the west, Heibao town and Wangdu town in the north. The maximum distance from east to west is 12.7 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 6.9 km, with a total area of 49.94 square kilometers. In late 2018, the total population of the registered residence was 31500.
Gudian town is named after the town government's residence in Gudian village. In January 1984, it was established in Gudian township. In December 2002, it was changed to Gudian town. As of June 2020, Gudian town has jurisdiction over 16 administrative villages, and the people's Government of Gudian town is located at No. 110, Fuqiang West Street, Gudian village. Gudian town is the planting site of Wangdu pepper, a national geographical indication product in China.
In 2017, there were 64 enterprises in Gudian Town, with 4288 employees, including 48 industrial enterprises and 3 large-scale enterprises. In 2018, there were 48 industrial enterprises in Gudian Town, including 3 above scale and 35 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
Historical evolution
Gudian town is named after the town government's residence in Gudian village.
In June 1953, jiangudian township was located in Chengguan District.
In June 1958, Wang Tang was merged and goodian township was transferred to Tang County; in September of the same year, goodian people's commune was rebuilt.
In January 1962, the system of Wangdu county was restored and it was still called the people's commune of goodian.
In January 1984, it was transferred to Gudian township.
In February 1996, Jizhuang township was incorporated.
In December 2002, it was changed to Gudian town.

Wangdu pepper has been planted for nearly 600 years. During the Hongwu Period of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1398), Zhu Di, the fourth Prince of the Ming Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, led his troops to the north, bringing not only family members, livestock and production tools, but also pepper seeds. From then on, pepper settled in Wangdu.
