Goulin town

Goulin town is located in the south of Dengzhou City, Henan Province. It is one of the four famous towns in Dengzhou since Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is the political, economic and cultural center of Dengnan. It borders Xiangyang County of Hubei Province in the south, 21 kilometers long from north to South and 7.95 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 163.74 square kilometers and a total population of 67303 (2017).

In October 2019, Goulin town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

Historical evolution

It used to be called Goulin pass. In the Southern Song Dynasty, it was called Goulin because of the formation of trees. Yue Fei, the national hero of the Southern Song Dynasty, fought with Jin in the Northern Expedition and won here. It's called "lucky Goulin pass", so Goulin pass gets its name. After the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was one of the four famous towns in Dengzhou. In 1947, Deng County patriotic democratic government was established in Goulin. In 1948, the office of Sangong District of Tongbai District of the Communist Party of China was set up in Liying village in the north of the town, and the Henan Hubei cadre school was set up in goulinguan. The forest commune was established in 1958, the township was changed in 1983, and the town was established in November 1985. Goulin town is located 20 kilometers south of Dengzhou City, with an administrative area of 163.74 square kilometers.
