Jiaohe town is located in the southwest of Luanchuan County, Luoyang City. It is the thoroughfare of Luoyang, Nanyang and Sanmenxia. It is 32 kilometers away from the county and 156 kilometers away from Luoyang. It is adjacent to Xixia in the south, Lushi in the west, taowan and Sanchuan in the East and North. Covering an area of 164 square kilometers, it governs 15 administrative villages and 125 residential groups, with 12000 mu of arable land and a population of 20200. In addition to the Han nationality, there are more than 290 ethnic minorities including Mongolian, Hui, Manchu and Tibetan. All the 15 administrative villages in the town are connected to each other. Jiaohe is an established town, in which the river water flows into the Danjiangkou and into the Yangtze River, belonging to the Yangtze River Basin. There are two ways to say the name of the river: first, the river is called "obstinate River" by the masses from east to west. Most of the rivers in the world run from west to East, but the "Jian River", which flows through the Jiaohe River, runs from east to west. It originates from cold water, flows through Sanchuan, passes through the whole territory of the Jiaohe River from east to west, and finally flows into the Danjiang Estuary and into the Yangtze River. Due to the fact that the people call it "obstinate River" because of "acting in the opposite way", it has been handed down from generation to generation. Over time, the people call it "called River" because of its homonym. The second is the galloping and roaring of the river, which is called "the roaring river". He said that the obstinate river flows from east to west. After being blocked by a stone mountain in the territory of the called River, it forms a deep pool here. It not only hindered the traffic, but also caused frequent floods, inundating many fertile fields. People here have been looking forward to ploughing their way to the gate one day and letting the "stubborn River" flow down. For this reason, the people prayed and sacrificed on the Bank of the river every year. The sincerity of the people moved the God. One day, a god ox came down from the sky and ploughed hard. Before dawn, the mountain pass was ploughed open and the river flew down. From then on, the good farmland was preserved, the traffic was smooth, and the people lived and worked in peace and contentment. Because of the smooth flow of the river here, the local people call it the "howling River". on the Jiaohe River, people built a stone bridge, which is called "Lishui bridge" and "Jiaohe bridge". During the reign of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, the bridge was rebuilt. Lishui temple was built and Lishui bridge stele was set up. In order to worship the cow at the mountain pass, the statue of Lishui cow was made by later generations.

River system

The natural and artificial Chinese medicinal materials mainly include Cornus officinalis, Forsythia suspensa, Gastrodia elata, Polyporus umbellatus, Poria cocos, etc. now, 800000 plants of Cornus officinalis and Eucommia ulmoides have been developed, the total amount of Gastrodia elata, Polyporus umbellatus and poria cocos has reached 650000 acupoints, 2100 mu of Codonopsis pilosula, Salvia miltiorrhiza and Platycodon grandiflorus have been planted, and three demonstration villages of efficient planting of Gastrodia elata have been built. At present, the main mineral deposits are: gold, silver, iron, lead, zinc and granite. Among them, Lishugou village mine has a registered census area of 12.9 square kilometers, with proven metal reserves of 8 million tons, belonging to magnetite, with an average magnet grade of 9.8 ‰.

There are mainly: boxing vegetables, Hericium erinaceus, mushrooms, fungus, chestnut, lacquer, honey, velvet antler, ginkgo, etc., with an average annual collection of nearly 10000 tons. Relying on the advantages of Luanchuan's location and tourism, wild vegetables, wild fruits, edible fungi, walnuts and other local products will gradually become the dominant resources of tourism product market development.

Water resources

Jiaohe River originated from daohuigou and Feihe River originated from Lengshui town converge in the center of the town, and finally converge into the Yangtze River after passing through Lushi. The town has a total length of 55.6 kilometers and a drainage area of 61.6 square kilometers. It is one of the middle route projects of South to North Water Diversion. The domestic sewage centralized treatment rate is 100%, the industrial and mining pollution source wastewater is stable and zero discharge is realized, and the surface water quality meets the class II standard in the national surface water quality standard, which can fully meet the civil and plant water demand in the whole town of Jiaohe. At the same time, great efforts have been made to develop the potential of water resources. Five hydropower stations have been built, with an installed capacity of 3500 kwh.
