Hutouya town

Hutouya town belongs to Laizhou City, Yantai, Shandong Province, located in the southwest of Laizhou City. In the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, the Ba surname moved from Sichuan to this village. There used to be a temple of Guandi here. It is said that a passer-by was robbed here. Fortunately, Guan Gong showed his spirit to save him, so the village was named Shentang. In 1966, it was renamed Hongwei. In 1983, it was renamed Shentang.

Historical evolution

In 1938, it belonged to the first, second and ninth districts of Ye County. Shentang commune and Dongsong commune were established. In February 1967, Shentang commune was renamed Hongwei commune; in April 1982, Shentang commune was restored. In April 1984, it was changed into Shentang town and Dongsong town respectively. In December 1988, Shentang township was renamed Shentang town. In 1996, Shentang town covers an area of 55.5 square kilometers and has a population of 30000. The town government was stationed in the former Shentang town government.

Hutouya town is a new town formed by the combination of Shentang town and Dongsong town after the adjustment of administrative divisions. It is located on the Laizhou Bay of Jiaodong Peninsula and belongs to the suburb of Laizhou. As of 2006, Hutouya town has jurisdiction over 73 administrative villages. By the end of 2001, Hutouya town had a total population of 51000 people, including 3385 non-agricultural people. The sex ratio is 105:10.
