Historical evolution
Gulei belonged to suikangli, Changle Township, Zhangpu County in Song Dynasty, and nine capitals in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Li Jia was set up in the Ming Dynasty, and Gulei peninsula was divided into three li (Donglin, Gulei and youao). In the seventh year of Zhengtong (1442), the inspection department of Gulei was set up. During the Shunzhi period of the early Qing Dynasty, the inspection department was abolished and the three li was replaced by three Bao. At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, Zheng Chenggong was the base of anti Qing Dynasty. In order to cut off the land supply of Zheng, the Qing government ordered the boundary to be moved in the 18th year of Shunzhi, and the coastal area was classified as "spoil". In the following year (the first year of Kangxi), Gulei was classified as "outside the boundary", and the villagers moved in. In the 18th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign, the rear area of "restoration" moved back one after another. In the 39th year of Kangxi, Baojia was reorganized, and Gulei peninsula was reorganized into port, youao and Gulei. In the fifth year of the Republic of China, hedongshan county was designated as the third district of Dongshan County. At the beginning of the liberation, it was divided into the Fourth District of Dongshan County. It was only in December 1955 that it was divided into Zhangpu, which is Gulei district. It has jurisdiction over 28 natural villages in 7 townships, namely Chengxia, Daizai, Xingzi, Longkou, youao, Xiadong and Gangkou. In September 1958, it became a commune. On the basis of the original agricultural cooperatives, it established seven brigades, namely, Gangkou, Xiadong, youao, Longkou, Daizai, Chengxia and Xingzai, under the jurisdiction of Gulei management area of duxun commune. In May 1961, the administrative area was abolished and Gulei commune was established, with 13 brigades. In August 1984, communes were changed into townships, 13 brigades into 13 administrative villages, and in February 1992, towns. The 13 administrative villages under the jurisdiction of Gulei town are: Gulei village, Gangkou village, Xilin village, Daizai village, Xiliao village, Xiacun village, youao village, Xingzai village, xiahori village, Banhu village, Longkou village, Gucheng village and ponei village. Now there are 32400 people in the town. Gulei district was established in 1956, commune in 1958, township in 1984 and town in 1992. In 1997, with an area of 37.3 square kilometers and a population of 33000, it has jurisdiction over 13 village committees in Gulei, Gangkou, Xilin, Daizai, Gucheng, Xiliao, Xialong, youao, Xingzai, xiaku, Banhu, Longtian and ponei.

Human history
In the 25th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, the pirate toothless man (the head of the thief) attacked Gu Lei, and Tongshan defeated Zhang Wanji. In December of the third year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Zheng Chenggong set out to fight against the Qing Dynasty, taking Xiamen and Dongshan as bases, and Gulei was also under his control. In the 16th year of Shunzhi, Zheng Chenggong contracted the forces in Southern Fujian, and Gulei was an area where both sides had no garrison. In the 18th year of Shunzhi, the Qing government ordered the "boundary removal", and the coastal area was classified as "spoil" (outside the boundary). The next year (the first year of Kangxi), the villagers moved in and the buildings were demolished. In the 18th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi, people moved back one after another, but some did not. On March 19, 1945, at the end of the Second World War, the Japanese aggressor troops were transferred from Shanghai to Guangdong and carried by four warships to the waters of Caiyu archipelago. They were bombed by Chennault's "Flying Tigers" fighters from Changting airport. One of them sank in the waters to the east of Changting Airport, causing many casualties. Several people were captured by our people and sent to Zhangzhou division headquarters. The remaining three Japanese warships fled to Xiamen and Jinmen Japanese occupied area with injuries. More than 2000 people of the remnant landed from baikeng at the end of the harbor in July that year, and fled through Fotan, Zhangpu, Yunxiao and Zhao'an to Guangdong Japanese occupied area. Along the way, they were attacked again, causing many casualties.
Development prospects
Gulei was once regarded as a secluded place in the corner of the sea, where there was sand and barren land, so it was not suitable to grow rice. Although the fish production was abundant, the transportation was inconvenient. It was difficult to sell the fresh products only relying on the fishmongers. The traditional processing methods of seafood were only cooking (or cooking), drying and salting, and they could not sell well. Therefore, they had to take sweet potato as the staple food. People's life was poor, and their culture and education were backward. After liberation, after more than 50 years of construction, the people's government has made great progress in economy and society, with convenient land and water transportation and rapid development of fishery. Especially after the reform and opening up, the sea
