Shezhen Township

Shezhen township is located in the Northwest Mountainous Area of Xianyou County, Fujian Province, bordering Xiangxi Township in the northeast, Zhongshan town in the East, Bangtou town and Shufeng town in the southeast, Daji town in the south, Duwei town in the southwest, Xiyuan Township in the northwest, with an average altitude of 640 meters. It governs 14 administrative villages. Xianyou County governs the township. It was founded in 1958 and changed to township in 1984.

In 2017, the administrative area of Shezhen township was 7750 hectares, with a permanent population of 2250.

General situation

Shezhen township is located in the northwest of Xianyou County, Fujian Province, bordering Xiangxi Township in the northeast, Zhongshan town in the East, Bangtou town and Shufeng town in the southeast, Daji town in the south, Duwei town in the southwest and Xiyuan Township in the northwest.

Shezhen Township governs 14 administrative villages. It has 1100 hectares of suitable pine, 1000 hectares of bamboo, 667 hectares of fir, 3334 hectares of grassland, and 1100 hectares of tatatou grassland. It has been approved by the Ministry of agriculture and the State Planning Commission as an important base for the development of southern Caoshan, with 14500 goats in the township. It contains silver, quartz, pyrophyllite and other minerals. Now it has signed a quartz mine development contract with Taiwan businessmen.

The origin of place names

It is said that the Xie family lived here to avoid chaos. The common people dug up wasteland to make land in the hilly areas and streams. Because it was the sharpening stone of the Xie family, it was named Xie Zhen.

Historical evolution

With an average altitude of 640 meters, Shezhen township has a subtropical marine monsoon climate. It is warm and humid all the year round, with abundant rainfall and fertile soil. Mr. Chen, a Taiwanese businessman from Putian Dijiu Agricultural Technology Development Co., Ltd., invested in Cherry cultivation and other agricultural crops in Shezhen township. The cherry blossom planting and processing project in Shezhen township is located at the foot of the top of the tower in Shezhen Township, which is the foot of the ten thousand mu Caoshan mountain where the wind speed is being measured and the wind power station is being built, covering an area of more than 3000 mu. The project plans to invest 20 million yuan to plant 3000 mu of Japanese cherry blossom and 1000 mu of Japanese sweet persimmon, and build a processing plant to produce Cherry Blossom vinegar, sweet persimmon vinegar and fruit vinegar products. The project has invested 5 million yuan, planting nearly 2000 mu of cherry blossom, 1000 mu of sweet persimmon, and cultivating nearly 2 tons of vinegar bacteria. The Party committee and government of Shezhen township will guide Chen Shengzhi, a Taiwanese businessman, to develop a variety of cherry blossoms with economic value and ornamental value in four years in combination with surrounding mountain tourism, and gradually build it into a sightseeing agricultural park. In combination with the new rural construction, Shezhen Township, together with Dijiu company, will encourage and help local people to plant 100000 Taiwan cherry blossoms in front of, behind and beside their houses, so as to create a new tourist attraction of "Cherry Blossom appreciation town".
