Meijie town

Meijie town is under the jurisdiction of Guichi District, Anhui Province, located in the south of Chizhou City.

Evolution of organizational system

The predecessor of Meijie town is taopo township. A long time ago, the first part of the peach slope was full of slope land and peach trees. The ancients once made a couplet of "peach blossom in March, slope flat ten li", so later generations named it "taopo". Taopo commune was established in 1958 and merged with Jiefang commune in 1968. In 1971, it was divided into taopo commune and Jiefang commune again. In 1984, it was taopo Township when the system was reformed. In 1992, it was abolished when the district was withdrawn and the township was merged. Meijie village of LiuJie township was included in Chengli Meijie town. The town is located in Panqiao, the former Mei block office. As for the origin of the name "Mei Street", it is the name of a merchant surnamed Mei who opened a shop in the early years and later developed into a street.
