It was divided into Haidian District in 1952. Haidian commune was established in August 1958 and changed to Haidian Township in April 1984. In 1996, it covers an area of 41.9 square kilometers and has a population of 10000. It governs six administrative villages, namely Qinglongqiao, Xiaojiahe, Shucun, liulangzhuang, Xiyuan and wanquanzhuang. on September 10, 2001, the municipal government approved the establishment of Wanliu District Office in Haidian Township by Haidian District, implementing "one set of people and two brands" with Haidian township; meanwhile, some administrative divisions of the District Office (township) were adjusted, and the areas under the jurisdiction of Xiyuan village and Xiaojiahe Village were divided into Haidian sub district office and malianwa sub district office; the adjusted Wanliu district office Haidian township is divided into North and south areas. In December, Wanliu District Office was set up to implement a set of team and two brands with Haidian township government, and to exercise two kinds of administrative functions and powers of district government agency and township government at the same time. Since September 1, 2002, all of liulangzhuang community, furongli community and part of Wanbei community in Haidian Street, with a total of 2260 households and 3166 people, have been officially assigned to Wanliu district office. In 2005, Shucun area was under the jurisdiction of Shangdi street, and wanquanzhuang Village area was merged into Haidian Street; after the adjustment, Wanliu area: Qinglongqiao Village area, Sizhi area remained unchanged. In 2011, the reply of Beijing Municipal Political Bureau on adjusting the administrative divisions of seven townships in Haidian District (No. 317 of Jingmin planning letter): cancel Haidian Township, establish Haidian Town, and retain Wanliu district office. on February 23, 2012, Haidian township was officially abolished and Haidian town was established.
