Chaling town
Chaling town belongs to Huaining County, Anqing City, Anhui Province. It is located in the middle of Huaining County, adjacent to Liangting Township in the East, Xiushan Township in the west, Yueshan Township and Shijing Township in the south, and Gaohe town in the north.
Chaling town has a total area of 63.38 square kilometers, including 61.38 square kilometers of land. It governs 11 administrative villages with a total population of 32957 (2017). In 2011, the total agricultural output value of the town was 370 million yuan, and the total industrial output value was 1.943 billion yuan.
Chaling town is located in the hilly and shallow mountain area, with subtropical monsoon climate, abundant light and heat, and the same period of rain and heat. It is one of the first batch of "pilot towns of expanding power and strengthening town" in Anhui Province.
Historical evolution
In the early days of the founding of new China, today's Chaling area is divided into five townships: tanqiao, Quanshui, Mengling, Jiliu and Wanqiao.
In 1956, it was merged into WanQiao township.
Wanqiao commune was established in 1958 and later merged into Gaohe people's commune.
Wanqiao commune was restored in 1961.
It was changed to Chaling Township in 1984.
In 1992, the township was removed to build a town and renamed Chaling town.

Lianhua nunnery
Lianhua nunnery is located in liupishan, Tongxing village, Chaling town. It is a provincial key nunnery in Anhui Province. There are hills in the East, Dagang in the west, Guanyin cave in the south, spring pond in the north, lion and elephant mountains on the left and right. In the annals of Anqing Prefecture written by Kangxi of Qing Dynasty, only the word "Liang Jian" was recorded. Originally in Duxiu mountain, it was moved and built four times later.
