Death and posterity
To die is a Chinese idiom, pronounced in Pinyin as "zh ì zh ī s ǐ D ì é RH ò ush ē ng". It originally refers to that when the army is placed in a situation where it is impossible to retreat and only when it is dead, the soldiers will march forward bravely and kill the enemy to win. It later refers to that they can make up their mind and succeed by cutting off the retreat in advance. It's from nine places of Sun Tzu.
interpretation
Taoism, military philosophy. It used to mean that when an army was placed in a situation where it could not retreat and only died in battle, the soldiers would advance bravely and kill the enemy to win. The latter metaphor is that if you cut off the retreat in advance, you can make up your mind and achieve success.

Idiom story
During the period of Chu and Han Dynasties, Liu Bang sent generals Han Xin and Zhang Er to attack Zhao state, and Zhao Wang Xie and General Chen Yu led 200000 troops to fight in jingxingkou. Chen Yu didn't listen to Li zuoche's advice and fought hard with Han Xin. Han Xin deliberately killed him and later formed an array by the river. The soldiers fought against each other and fought bravely. Then they sent troops to capture Zhao's camp, kill Chen Yu and capture Zhao Wang Xie alive.
