Idiom story
Confucius had a friend named Liu Xiaji. Liu Xiaji's younger brother, named as diaozhi, was the leader of the slave uprising in the late spring and Autumn period and the early Warring States period. "Thief" is a scornful term used by the literati for the revolting slaves. There were 9000 people under the bandit Zhi's command, who were rampant in the world and invaded the princes by force. Where they have gone through the past, big countries strictly guard the city, small countries close the city to protect themselves, and the people complain. Therefore, Confucius once said to Liu Xiaji, "a father must be able to educate his son, and a brother must be able to educate his younger brother. Otherwise, the relationship between father and son will not be valuable. Now, my husband is a talented man and my younger brother is a robber, but I can't educate him. I'm really ashamed of you. I ask you to go and persuade him for me Liu Xiaji puzzled him and said, "if my younger brother doesn't listen to his elder brother's education, even if he has such eloquence as Mr. Zhang, what can he do? Besides, Zhi is a man, his thoughts flow freely like a spring, and his spirit changes suddenly like a storm. If he obeys his heart, he will be happy. If he doesn't, he will be angry. He is easy to insult others with words. I don't think you should go, sir Confucius didn't listen to Liu Xiaji's advice, so he asked his disciple Yan Hui to drive. Another disciple, Zi Gong, served him and went to meet with the Robber Zhi. When he heard that Confucius had come to see him, he burst into a rage and said to the informer, "is this man Confucius of the state of Lu? Tell him for me," you eat well when you don't farm, but you dress well when you don't weave. You shake your lips and drum your tongue all day long. You make trouble and confuse the monarchs of the world. You pretend to be filial to your parents and fraternal to your brothers, so as to win the title of marquis and wealth. You've committed a terrible crime. Go back quickly, or I'll use your liver to add food. " Confucius repeatedly asked to see him, so he let him in. After Confucius saluted him, he opened his eyes and said, "Confucius, what you said, those who obey my will will live, those who disobey my will will let you die." Confucius said: "the general's body is big, his wisdom covers the whole world, and he is brave and strong enough to be king in the south. And the name is robber. I'm ashamed of the general. General, if you can follow my advice, I can send envoys to Wu and Yue in the south, Qi and Lu in the north, song and Wei in the East. The West sent envoys to the states of Jin and Chu to justify their generals. But he didn't listen and drove Confucius away
