Idioms and allusions
In the late Qi Dynasty, there was an important figure in the imperial court, called Gao Dezheng. Prime Minister Gao Yang attached great importance to him and asked him to join the army. They get along very well, and Gao's words are endless. Gao Yang followed his advice. Later, Gaozu died in Jinyang. General Wang Shizong and Bohai Wang Shizong inherited their father's career and went to Jinyang to deal with the funeral. Gao Yang stayed in Ye (Kyoto) and ordered Gao Dezheng to take part in the management of national military and political affairs. Shizong was killed by thieves in Jinyang, which shocked both inside and outside. Gao Dezheng urged Gao Yang to claim the title of emperor on the ground that "a country cannot be without a monarch for a day". The officials had different opinions, but Gao Dezheng's words reached Gao Yang's heart and finally ascended the throne of emperor in 550 A.D., known as emperor Wenxuan in history. On the day of receiving Zen, he worshipped Gao Dezheng as the minister. After six or seven years, Emperor Wenxuan was proud and indulged in wine and sex. Gao Dezheng faced up to him many times, which aroused the dislike of emperor Wenxuan and was killed by Emperor Wenxuan.
