The origin of Idioms

Zuoji (editor's note, i.e. Minister of Jin Dynasty) envoy in Zuozhuan · the 33rd year of duweigong passed through Ji and saw that Ji was short of Duzhi. His wife was respectful and treated each other like a guest.

Idiom usage

It is used as predicate, attributive and adverbial, with commendatory meaning, between husband and wife.
