The origin of Idioms

In the 26th year of Xianggong in Zuozhuan, it is recorded that bozhouli intended to take advantage of gongziwei and asked huangjie to testify. He hinted to huangjie and raised his hand and said, "the master is the prince, and the younger brother of the widowed monarch is the nobleman." He put down his hand and said, "this son can be a garrison. Who can get the son of Yin in the county outside Fangcheng?"

Idiom story

The spring and Autumn period is the 15th year of King Kang of Chu. Chu sent troops to invade Zheng. With the strength of Chu state at that time, the weak Zheng state was unable to resist. As a result, Zheng state was defeated and Zheng general huangjie was captured by Chu general chuanfengxu. After the end of the war, there was Prince Wei, the younger brother of the king of Chu, in the Chu army. He wanted to take credit for the capture of huangjie, saying that Zheng huangjie was captured by him. So there was a dispute between Chuang fengxu and gongziwei. They refused to give in, and there was no way to solve it for a moment. Later, they asked Bozhou Li to act as a notary to determine whose credit it was. Bo Zhou Li ordered people to bring Huang Jie and explain the reason to him. Then he raised his hand very high and said respectfully, "this is Gong Ziwei. He is the favorite younger brother of the monarch of our country!" After that, bozhouli pressed his hand very low again, and with disdain, he pointed to chuanfengxu and said, "this man is chuanfengxu, a small county Yin outside Fangcheng of our country. You see clearly, which of these two captured you alive? " It is obvious that bozhouli intends to be partial to gongziwei. Huangjie understood his intention from bozhouli's gesture, so he pointed out that it was gongziwei who captured him. He also flattered him and said, "gongziwei is very skillful, brave and good at fighting. I will admit defeat." So bozhouli awarded gongziwei the credit for capturing huangjie alive. Soon after, the prince was sealed, bozhouli was promoted, the emperor was demoted, and huangjie was out of danger. It means to pervert the law and cheat.
