According to legend, King Mu of Zhou had eight horses, traveling thousands of miles a day, and was deeply loved. He likes to play very much. He once accepted the invitation of Queen Mother of the West and participated in yaochi grand meeting. One day, King Mu of Zhou came back to Heshan from Kunshan. On the way back, he heard that there was a man named Yanshi who was skillful in making animals that could call and run. He didn't believe it. He summoned Yanshi immediately and asked, "I heard that you can make all kinds of exquisite things. Take one out and let me have a look." The next day, Yanshi took a wooden dummy to visit King Mu. King Mu saw as like as two peas in his facial features, and his eyebrows and beard were just like real people. King Mu asked Yanshi, "can all the people you carved move? Yanshi said, "I can not only move, but also sing and dance. Just like a real person. " Muwang said: "let them perform, I see how much worse than real people." Yanshi used the drum to direct the wooden man to move. According to the rhythm of the drum, the wooden man did not open the formation to attack and defend. However, he saw that the wooden man was armed with swords, guns, swords and sticks to attack and defend in an orderly way. After a while, he formed a long snake formation, and suddenly became an ambush on all sides. Then he turned into nine palaces and eight seals formation, six flowers formation, seven stars formation and eight gates formation. The formation was ever-changing, which dazzled King Mu and made him very happy. He felt that it was a pity that he didn't let his concubine enjoy such a novel, so he ordered the maids to invite her to watch it together.
