Synopsis

This is an animated short film with only 4 minutes. The film starts in a fallen leaf. An old man sets up a chess board alone in the autumn wind, playing chess alone, and there is no one around. The old man himself repeatedly played two chess players at the table, one was a crafty master, the other was a silent and timid scholar. There is no dialogue in the whole film, but there is a dramatic turn at the end. Although the film is only 4 minutes, it leaves people infinite thinking, life is like chess. It took Pixar nearly ten years to make human actions, facial expressions, skin and hair vivid. In this film, Mr. Kiri later appeared in Toy Story 2 to repair toys.

In 1997, Geri's game also won an Oscar for best short film. Pixar often does some testing before making a new video. This time the test was the softness of the clothes. "Chess meets the enemy" is the first Pixar to use computer technology to produce a real effect of skin and clothing film. the old man's chess box says "pixarshorts" (Pixar Animation Company).
