The origin of Idioms
In the first year of the Tianhan Dynasty, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty sent Zhonglang general to the Xiongnu. He stayed alone but did not send him. If he wanted to subdue Wu, he had to go to the cellar and eat nothing. The day rain and snow, Wu lie bite snow, and blanket hair and swallow, finally unyielding. Idiom story
During the Western Han Dynasty, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty sent his minister Su Wu and others as envoys to the western regions to repair with Xiongnu Shan Yu. Because of the rebellion of Han Dynasty's subordinate Marquis Wang, Shan Yu was so angry that he detained Su Wu and others and confined them in the cellar. Su Wu lived by eating snow and food, and resolutely refused to surrender. He was forced to become a slave of Xiongnu and herded sheep on the vast grassland. He returned to the Han Dynasty 19 years later.
