Heavy make-up is a Chinese idiom, Pinyin is n ó ngzhu à NGD à nm à, which means two different kinds of make-up, rich and elegant. See "light and heavy makeup". It's from "drink the rain after the first sunny day on the lake".
Chapter 18 of the Black Ghost written by Peng Yangou in Qing Dynasty: "his clothes are pretty and his makeup is light, which is called his happiness." The second section of Hu Jinghui's "we love you, China" is: "the picturesque and beautiful landscape of Guilin, the heavy makeup of Hangzhou West Lake."
