Idiom story
In the spring and Autumn period, in the spring of the second year of Duke Chenggong of Lu, Duke Qinggong of Qi led the army to attack the state of Lu, and then took advantage of the victory to attack the state of Wei. Lu and Wei both appealed to Jin for help, and Jin Jinggong sent Ying (x ì) ke as the chief General of the Chinese army to lead the troops to resist the Qi army. In June, the Allied forces of Jin, Lu and Wei advanced to the foot of Miji mountain (in Changqing County of Shandong Province). But Qi Qinggong didn't pay attention to them and sent people to challenge them. Qi General Gao Gu also rushed into the Jin army and swaggered. After returning to the camp, he still walked around the camp, shouting: "if you want to be brave, Jia Yu is brave!" Then the two sides agreed: to fight tomorrow morning. The next day, the armies of both sides battled in an array in 鞌 (ā n) (now Licheng County, Shandong Province). Qi Qinggong yelled: "we will annihilate the enemy and come back for breakfast!" He didn't even wear the armor on his horse, so he rushed out of the battle. The battle was very fierce, but the Qi army was defeated, and the proud Qi Qinggong was almost captured. Qi Qinggong's saying that "after annihilating the enemy, come back for breakfast" is a heroic statement in terms of scorning the enemy and encouraging fighting spirit. Later, it became an idiom to describe the eagerness to destroy the enemy and the confidence to win. "Chaoshi" means having breakfast.
