Synopsis
Two trains collided and 131 passengers were killed. The only survivor, David, awoke to find himself in the emergency room of a Philadelphia hospital. What's more strange is that he not only survived, but also didn't get hurt at all. This incident attracted the attention of a black man named Elijah. Elijah was born with disabled hands and feet. He believed that David had some supernatural power. The hero David is so lucky to escape the disaster. Is it God's favor, or is there an incredible evil force controlling him? Under the guidance of Elijah, David gradually discovered the secret Bruce Willis plays David, a middle-aged man suffering from family crisis. He works as a security guard in a university gymnasium and used to be an American football player. On the way back to Philadelphia from New York, David's train had an accident. All the passengers except David were killed, but David was unhurt. Local media reported on the accident, with special reference to David, the only survivor. On the day of the memorial service for the victims in the church, David found a card in his car with the words "have you never been ill?" David himself had the same question, so he went back to check his attendance record and found that he had never asked for sick leave in the past four years. Back home, David asked his wife the same question. Because his wife and he are in the crisis of marriage, his wife does not care about his problems. The next day, David and his son come to the "limited collection" comic book store shown on the card. Elia, the owner of the store (played by Samuel Jackson), is the person who gave him the card. it turns out that Elia is known as "glass man" because she suffers from genetic diseases and is born with fragile bones and is prone to fracture. Therefore, most of his life was spent in hospital bed, accompanied by all kinds of comic books. Elijah believes that since God has arranged for such a person to exist, there must be another extreme person in the world, that is, someone who will never get sick or hurt. And that's David. Elia tried to persuade David to believe his theory, citing several recent major accidents, such as plane crash and hotel fire. There were no survivors. Only in this train accident, David was the only survivor. David didn't believe Elijah. He thought he was a liar and left the comic book store with his son. After several twists and turns, the relationship between David and his wife turned for the better. And in his contacts with Elijah, he gradually accepted Elijah's point of view and realized that he had extraordinary ability. He also used his own ability to solve a gangster attack, and really became a "hero" in comic books. the end of the film is somewhat unexpected. At Elijah's exhibition, David and he meet again, and by this time they have become friends. Just as David shook hands with Elijah, with his super power, pictures flashed in front of David's eyes. It turns out that in order to prove her theory and look for the "hero" who won't be hurt, Elia created the accidents of plane crash, hotel fire and train derailment. Unable to accept this fact, David left Elijah's gallery with a mixed mood. Behind him came Elijah's cry of "they call me glass man".
