exhaust oneself with persuasion
[talk freely]
In order to make it easy for the other party to understand, it's called "talking about everything".
For example, Lang Ying of the Ming Dynasty wrote in the first poem of the seven kinds of revisions: "one must express one's own ideas, speak horizontally and vertically, and focus on the cadence and detail." language is rooted in Zen. "It's just like master niutourong, the fourth patriarch, who talks about everything, but he still doesn't know shangguanzaozi." After all, it is the characteristic of Zen to say "the beginning of a story". there are two kinds of Zen: Southern Zen and Northern Zen. Horizontal theory belongs to epiphany, vertical theory belongs to gradual realization. Zen mainly focuses on "Epiphany", calling itself "zongmen" and "Jiaomen" as "Jingjiao". In this sense, "hengshuo" is "zongmen" and "lishshuo" is "Jianmen". there is also a saying in the Buddhist Scripture that "the horizontal is in ten directions, and the vertical is in three generations." the horizontal belongs to time, and the vertical belongs to space. Another example is the Confucian classics and Weishu, which can also be called "horizontal and vertical".
