Idiom story
In the early Han Dynasty, there was a very famous physician named chunyuyi. Because he had been in charge of the state warehouse of Qi, people called him "Canggong". Chunyuyi was fond of medicine when he was young. He worshipped a doctor named Gongsun Guang as his teacher and asked for advice with an open mind. Later, he learned medicine from Gongsun Guang's half brother Gongcheng Yangqing. Gongcheng Yangqing asked chunyuyi to abandon all the medical prescriptions he had learned before, and then gave him all the secret prescriptions he was in charge of, and taught him ancient pulse books and various methods of diagnosis. After two years of study, Chunyu became a famous doctor. But he likes to travel everywhere. Some powerful people sent him to serve as a doctor, but he refused one by one for fear that his actions would be constrained. For this reason, they have hidden their whereabouts, often migrated registered residence, or even do not own property. In this way, it is inevitable to offend the powerful. When he was Taicang long, he was denounced. in 167 BC, chunyuyi was sentenced to corporal punishment (a kind of torture of stabbing words on the face, cutting nose or feet). According to the regulations, he will be sent to Chang'an in Kyoto to be punished. It's a very painful insult to be subjected to corporal punishment. Before leaving, chunyuyi's five daughters wailed. In this uncomfortable situation, Chunyu angrily scolded: "it's a pity that I don't give birth to a boy but a daughter. There's no one who can help me when I'm in a hurry!" Tiying, the youngest daughter, was both sad and dissatisfied with her father's words. She thinks that girls, like boys, can save their father's suffering. So she still went to Beijing with her father. When he arrived in Chang'an, tiying wrote to the court, "when my father was Taicang commander in Qi, the people praised him for his honesty and justice. I'm very sad to be punished for breaking the law. People who have been executed can not regenerate, and they can not recover after being punished. Even if you want to correct your mistakes and start a new life, there is no way to do so. I am willing to commit myself to the government as a slave to redeem my father's sin, so that my father can have the opportunity to correct his mistakes and be a new man. " Tiying's letter is sincere and touching. After reading her letter, Emperor Wen of Han Dynasty was moved by her spirit of showing filial respect to her father and voluntarily being punished for his father. Finally, he issued an edict to exempt chunyuyi from his crime and abolished corporal punishment in this year. This extraordinary action not only made chunyuyi free from punishment, but also enabled him to re-establish his medical profession, devote himself to medical research, and become a famous doctor of a generation.
