Idiom story
At the end of the Tang Dynasty, many literati left officialdom and lived in seclusion. Sikong Tu, a famous poet and poeticist in the late Tang Dynasty, adopted such an attitude towards life. Sikongtu was born in the second year of Kaicheng (837 A.D.) of emperor Wenzong of Tang Dynasty. He was born in Yuxiang (now Yongji, Shanxi Province) in the middle of the river. At the age of 32, he passed the imperial examination. In 878, he was promoted to the position of master of Guanglu temple, and was sent to Luoyang, the eastern capital, to take charge of affairs. In the first year of Guangming (880 A.D.) of emperor Xizong of Tang Dynasty, Huangchao uprising army invaded Chang'an, which made the society more turbulent and the Tang Dynasty was about to collapse. Someone found Sikongtu and advised him to join the rebel army. Sikongtu did not agree, but returned to his hometown to avoid chaos. Later, when he heard that emperor Fu Zong of Tang Dynasty arrived in Fengxiang, he went through all kinds of hardships to catch up with him and was granted the title of zhizhigao and Zhongshu Sheren. But before long, Tang Fu Zong fled to Chengdu again, and Sikong Tu couldn't follow him, so he had to go back to his hometown. This toss made Sikong Tu completely frustrated, passive and secluded. He indulged in mountains and rivers every day and enjoyed himself in poetry and composition. After Tang Zhaozong ascended the throne, he was summoned to the court several times, but he refused because of his age and illness. In 904 ad, Zhu Wen, the warlord who controlled the government of Tang Dynasty, deliberately destroyed the Tang Dynasty and became emperor. He forced Tang Zhaozong and the bureaucrats and residents of Chang'an to move their capital to Luoyang. At that time, Liu can was a counsellor and a minister of the Ministry of rites. In order to win the hearts of the people, he asked the emperor to issue an imperial edict and enlist Sikong Tu, who was highly virtuous, to serve as the Minister of rites. At this time, Sikongtu had already seen the intention of Zhu Wen and Liu can, but for fear of being killed, he had to compromise and come to Luoyang. When he met Tang Zhaozong in the court, he deliberately exaggerated his age and illness, pretended to be confused and didn't answer the question. Even his wat board fell to the ground, which made everyone laugh. Seeing this situation, Liu can knew that Sikong Tu would not cater to their wishes, so he mocked Sikong Tu: "you don't have the talent of Boyi and Liu Xiahui, and this is not the place where you can stand. If you think about it, you'd better live in seclusion. " In this way, Sikong Tu was released to his hometown. A few years later, Zhu Wen seized the Tang Dynasty and established the Houliang Dynasty. Sikong Tu went on a hunger strike and died of vomiting blood.
