The origin of Idioms
In the biography of Ji'an in historical records, it is said that the prime minister is Hong, and it is said that he has lost his mind.
Idiom story
In the Western Han Dynasty, Duwei Ji'an was a loyal and upright minister in charge of Fengshun affairs. He did not consider personal safety, and often spoke out to the young emperor. A scholar named Dong Zhongshu proposed to Emperor Wu that the doctrines of various schools of thought should be banned as heresies, and Confucius and his Confucian classics should be respected, so as to achieve political unity through cultural domination. This is the so-called "deposing all schools of thought and respecting Confucianism alone". Later, Emperor Wu adopted this suggestion and expressed everywhere that he wanted to govern the world with benevolence and justice.
Ji'an felt that Emperor Wu's expression was insincere. Once, in front of many Confucians, he criticized Emperor Wu, saying: "Your Majesty has many desires in his heart, but he said that he wants to govern the world with benevolence and justice. How can this look like the ancient sages Tang Yao and Yu Shun? " Emperor Wu was speechless and left in great embarrassment.
Some people said to Ji'an that if you offend the emperor in this way, sooner or later something will happen. Ji'an said with disapproval, "the emperor set up all kinds of officials, is it to let them just say good things and make the emperor fall into the mud of injustice?" Soon, Liu An, king of Huainan, was ready to rebel. He didn't pay attention to Gongsun Hong, but he was afraid of him. To this end, specially warned his men not to show their feet in Ji'an. He said that Ji'an was fond of giving advice and dying for righteousness. It was hard to confuse him. As for the prime minister, Gongsun Hong, it is as easy to deal with him as to uncover the obstacles in his eyes and shake down the dead leaves on the trees.
