"The east corner is gone, but Sangyu is not late" is a famous saying in Tang Dynasty poet Wang Bo's famous work preface to Tengwang Pavilion. The following two sentences of the original text are: "Meng tasted the noble and pure, empty hearted feeling of serving the country; Ruan Ji is rampant, how can he cry at the end of the road?" It expresses the ancient literati's mind of self encouragement even though they met with "the poverty of time and destiny".
