Sharpen one's reputation
As a Chinese idiom, the Pinyin is d ǐ L ì m í NGH à o, which means to cultivate one's own moral integrity to protect one's name. It's from new preface: miscellany 3.
The idiom comes from Liu Xiang's new preface, miscellany 3: "those who sharpen their names will not hurt their deeds for their advantage."
