About the author

Hong Junyan, a native of Cixi, Zhejiang Province, was born in Hangzhou. He is an economist and an American scholar. He has been a lecturer, associate professor and professor in Peking University for a long time. He has served as the director of the teaching and research section, the head of the Department and the deputy director of the center for American Studies at Peking University. He retired in 1993 and settled in Hong Kong.
